Roof Demarcation System (D-Marc)

D-marc have developed a demarcation barrier solution for flat roofs. D-marc is a collective protective system and can be used for the purpose of preventing access to hazards during regular rooftop maintenance. This D-marc system can create a safe route to and from the workplace.

Traditional demarcation systems on rooftop applications suffer from instability and wind uplift, causing them to fly off roofs at wind speeds as low as 50mph. Guidance on whether your building will be vulnerable to such wind speeds can be taken from two areas, 856399-2: Code of practice for wind loads and met office wind loadings. D-marc™105 has been wind tunnel tested on single-ply, bituminous and concrete roof surfaces resisting wind speeds in excess of 105 mph.

D-marc should be placed a safe distance from the fall hazard (normally >2m). Health and Safety Roofwork HSG33 states that “where work is not done at the edge, demarcation barriers can be provided at a safe distance from the edge (usually at least 2 metres). e.g. work on an air-conditioning unit in the middle of a roof.”

High Access Solutions offer our clients a full design and installation service, we undertake surveys and produce CAD drawings for each project. Please contact us for all your work at height project requirements.
