Jodrell Bank Tensioned Access Platform Net Systems

The Lovell Telescope is the third largest steerable radio telescope in the world measuring an impressive 76m in diameter, the telescope its self is still very much operational on a day to day basis and is classed as a grade 1 listed structure.

  • 1000 Square meters of Class B1 Work Position Netting system to comply with BS1263-1
  • 130 Linear meters of Class A2 Edge Protection Netting system to complete with BS1236-1

High Access Solutions scope of works was to design, supply, install and certificate a Work Position System that would allow routine maintenance and remedial works to the Lovell Telescope whist working at height.  Our client needed the most cost effective system whilst ensuring that the telescope was still operation.  High Access Solutions designed a Walk on Net Solution providing access to the areas of the telescope that were required.  The works involved installing an intricate network of webbing straps to the structural steels of the telescope and then lacing in 1,000 m² of walk on nets to create three levels of encapsulated working space.

High Access Solutions offer a full design and installation service. Please contact us for all your work at height project requirements.
