Using Rope Access methods in order to carry out steelwork upon buildings is a much more cost effective manner in which to do so than using other products or services. Due to the nature of the work, employing the use of scaffolding is impractical and MEWP’s are often not tall enough to allow for the steelwork installation. Rope Access Steel Erection works in tandem with cranes used to elevate materials for installation, the technicians then being able to swiftly affix the required steel to the structure.
Utilising Rope Access allows for the work to be completed much quicker than if a large scaffolding structure had to be erected – especially if steelwork needs to be affixed to multiple points upon a building. The Rope Access Technicians can easily set up their equipment at various points upon the roofing structure to ensure safety compliance while working, meanwhile the scaffolding would require complete dismantling before being assembled again in the new location, a very large drain on time.
Due to the height and nature of the work in adding steel work onto a building, Safety Nets should also be used to capture debris from the installation process before it becomes a danger to those passing on the ground below.
If the building in question needs to have frequent maintenance work or additions to the steel work made then installing a permanent safety access system would be the most cost effective method to ensure that these projects are undertaken safely. Permenant Rope Access Systems include Abseil Eyebolts being affixed to the building and Abseil Rail Systems being fitted. Temporary anchorage points for abseiling are however, available.
